The University of Pittsburgh was originally known as the Pittsburgh Academy and started off by housing its quarters on the edge of the American border.
Hugh Henry Brackenridge, a person of extraordinary insight and ideas, was the founder of the academy in the year 1787. This is the oldest regularly leased institution of learning in the entire United States and is located to the west of the Allegheny Mountains.
University of Pittsburgh, generally referred to as Pitt, started off as a preparatory school inside a log cabin in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. This was later changed to a small two story brick building with three rooms.
