Pittsburgh Zoo Hours

As one of the six major zoo and aquarium combinations in the country, Pittsburgh Zoo houses over 4,000 animals including 22 endangered species. Via exhibitions, educational programs and conservation projects, Pittsburgh Zoo is dedicated to fostering the intimate connections between animals and human kinds.

Pittsburgh Zoo is divided into Kid's Kingdom, PPG Aquarium, Asian Forest, Tropical Forest, African Savanna, Bears and Water's Edge. Each of them is unique in its own way. Zoo Hours: Treat yourself to a wild adventure in Pittsburgh Zoo? Don't forget to pack with you the hours info since open hours of Pittsburgh Zoo vary seasonally. Pittsburgh Zoo is open all year round except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. In winter, the zoo is closed 2 hours earlier than in summer. Admissions gates are closed an hour prior to the closing the zoo. Specific hours in winter, spring, summer and fall are as follows:

January 2 - March 31: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

April 1 - May 27: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

May 28 - September 5: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm

September 6 - December 31: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Gift Shop Hours: There are four premiere gift shops at Pittsburgh Zoo. They are respectively Village Outfitters, Northwest Trading Company, Current and the Safari. It would be nice to bring home some interesting and educational items from these uniquely-themed shops.

Conveniently located near the entrance of the zoo, Village Outfitters is an open-air shop offering plush animals, children's toys, T-shirts and so on. It is open daily April through September when weather permits.

Current gift shop offers a wide selection of apparel, gifts, toys, books, jewelry and unique aquatic plush creatures. The shop is located in the PPG Aquarium. Current gift shop is open all year round.

Northwest Trading Company is the zoo's newest gift shop situated between Water's Edge and Kids Kingdom. There you can find not only gear for a northwest expedition but also plush animals from the Water's Edge exhibit. It is open daily April through September when weather permits.

The Safari.Outpost and Safari Wheels are located in the Safari Village. The Safari.Outpost features an array of art, apparel, jewelry, plush animals and other fine gifts. Safari Wheels offers daily jeep and wagon rentals. Both of them are open all year round.
