Point State Park has an element of history attached to it. You would come across many structures in the park, which tells the story of Point State Park involvement with the history of Pittsburgh.

Point State Park is located at the tip of the Golden Triangle in downtown Pittsburgh, at the meeting point of two rivers the Allegheny and Monongahela, to form the Ohio. Point State Park occupies more than 36.4 acre land and is decorated with paved riverfront promenades, an amazing 150-foot tall fountain and with large grassy landscape. Point State Park serves as the National Historic Landmark and tells the tale of Pittsburgh's central participation in both French and Indian War.

The park has about twenty-three monuments, tablet and markers that tells a brief note about the commemorate events, about people as well as places of historic importance. Point State Park offers a beautiful strolling ground with a paved promenade that circles the river banks and a huge fountain.

You can visit the Point State Park from the east and west of the city by I-376 and I-279. If you want to reach the park from the north take PA 8 and PA 51 if you are travelling from the south. There are no entrance fees for entering the Point State Park. But the Fort Pitt Museum inside the park charges some entrance fees.

The Fort Pitt is one of the monuments inside the park and its five sides have a bastion on each side. Bastions are small projections; the three of them forming the original fortification. They are the Music Bastion, renovated to expose the original fort's foundation, the Flag Bastion and the Monongahela Bastion.

The Fort Pitt Museum is situated in the Monongahela Bastion. The Museum preserves numerous evidence and displays related to the frontier history of Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. The museum is open to the public from Tuesdays through Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays the museum is open from noon to 5 p.m. It is closed on Mondays.
