Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre

A professional balled company, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is situated in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. I n the year 1989 it launched it first detailed art education endeavor after receiving grant from Henry Education Commission. During first year of launch it enrolled around 6000 students. Now it has reached around 62000 students from around 200 schools in four state regions. It has around 300 students and offers 12 levels of studio instructions a week. The school has two major performances, Schenley Showcase in May in PBT Studio and Spring Performance in Bayham Theatre on first Saturday in June. The prestigious Pittsburgh Theater traces its roots to the late 60s and early 70s when it was incorporated as an affiliate to the Point Park College. At its helm was the renowned Yugoslavian Choreographer Nicholas Petrov. Its main stage productions first began at the Heinz hall in 1971 and reached a total subscriber base of 3000 in 5 short years. The Pittsburgh Ballet Theater School was organized in 1979 and soon became one of the largest companies in the nation by the early 1980s.
