Mellon Financial purchased its naming rights in 1999. Hence it is referred as the Mellon Arena. But the naming right expires in August 2010, hence one again it will be referred as the Civic Arena.

This arena is no longer the home of the Pittsburgh Penguins. 8th April, 2010 was the last time the Penguins played here, and interesting so, they lost both their first and last games in this arena to the Montreal Canadians.
